  • ‘Aperio’ is a Latin word meaning ‘to uncover,’ ‘to open,’ or ‘to reveal.’

    It captures our mission perfectly: to uncover the logic hidden within complex concepts, to open doors for every unique brain, and to reveal what is already inside you.

    You might see us use the phrase ‘Unlock Your Full Potential.’ We want to be clear: You are already enough. You are not incomplete. You do not need to ‘reach’ some imaginary finish line to be worthy.

    When we say ‘unlock,’ we mean that the capability is already within you. Sometimes it is just behind a door that the standard system never gave you the key to

    Our role is to help you find that key, walk beside you on your journey, and support you in becoming whoever you want to be.

  • We bring a unique clinical and neuro-inclusive perspective to science education. While standard tutoring often focuses on covering the curriculum, we focus on unlocking understanding.

    We use The Aperio Method™ to adapt complex concepts to how your brain naturally works. By combining clinical logic with strategies that build curiosity and neuroplasticity, we help you move from memorisation to genuine mastery.

  • Yes. It is our speciality. Whether you have Diagnosed ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD, or you have just always felt like the classroom method was not built for your brain, you are in the right place.

    We see your neurodivergence not as a deficit, but as a different way of thinking. We recognise the unique strengths you bring: creativity, deep focus on passions, and innovative problem-solving.

    We don't try to ‘fix’ you. Instead, we design every session to leverage these strengths, using neuro-inclusive strategies like active recall, spaced repetition, and multimodal engagement. No shame. No "broken" labels. Just methods that match how your brain actually works.

  • We currently specialise in Biology, Chemistry, Health, and General Science for NCEA Levels 1, 2, and 3 + Scholarship.

    We also support University students (Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology) and adults seeking science foundations or career changes.

    Our core strength is teaching the art of learning itself. Whether you are mastering NCEA standards or exploring new scientific horizons, we provide the tools and strategies to help you grow on your own terms.

    Looking ahead: As we grow our team of specialist tutors, we plan to expand our offerings to include Humanities, English, Psychology, Mathematics, Physics, and Languages. We are building a comprehensive learning hub for every subject.

  • Our investment is $80 NZD per hour for NCEA and Adult Learning, and $95 NZD per hour for University/Pre-Med preparation.

    We also offer Aperio Sync (Group Sessions, 3-4 students) at $55 NZD per hour per student.

    These rates reflect our premium, personalised approach and the clinical expertise behind every session.

    Every session includes:

    • A customised learning plan tailored to your unique goals and thinking style.

    • Detailed written notes and high-quality resources after every session.

    • Active learning strategies (real-world case studies, "what if" scenarios) that make concepts memorable and engaging.

    • Ongoing support and progress tracking to celebrate your growth.

  • Aperio Sync is structured small-group learning with clinical facilitation.

    It is based on peer-assisted learning principles, but with a crucial difference: an expert facilitator keeps the group on track and catches misconceptions before they stick.

    The evidence behind it:

    • Research suggests that structured peer learning can improve academic outcomes (Topping et al., 2000).

    • Studies indicate that explaining concepts to others reinforces one's own understanding (Fiorella & Mayer, 2013).

    • Shared attention during group learning correlates with deeper comprehension (Stephens et al., 2010; Dikker et al., 2017).

    • However, evidence also shows that peer learning often fails without expert oversight (Sevenhuysen et al., 2019).

    We provide the structure and clinical guidance to support these positive outcomes.
